ReplyDeleteThe Free Library of Philadelphia system will remain open after the Pennsylvania Legislature passes bill 1828. Yay! While this is very good news, something disturbing was included in the bill-- an 8% performing arts and museum tax. This tax will apply to tickets for theater, dance and performing arts events, concerts, museums, historical sites, zoos and parks. Sports are exempt. So are movies. Great idea- let's tax the nonprofit cultural institutions and leave the mega sports and entertainment franchises alone.
